What Gear do I use?
I have six cameras that I use intermittently for taking photographs. I believe a good photographer can work with any camera, but I use each of my cameras for a specific purpose.
Canon 1D Mark 3
Yes this is a older camera, but I love using this full frame camera for taking pictures for wedding photography, event photography and outdoor portrait photography. The camera is very heavy and not ideal for walking around downtown or events, where I usually hold the camera for an extended period of time. This camera is also known as a sports camera as the newer version is often used by sport photographers with long range lenses.
Canon EOS Rebel T6
This is a great camera for every starter photographer and the perfect learning camera for the price. I use this camera for walking around downtown. This camera is light and small and if it breaks it's not very expensive.
Canon 5D Mark 2
This particular camera, I use for portrait photography with a 35 mm or 50 mm lenses. This camera is not too large, where my arms get restless from the lifting and constantly taking photographs.
Canon EOS Rebel T3i
I love this camera as it is not very large and very mobile. The camera also has a flip out two-inch monitor that helps with taking pictures at a difficult angle.
I use an array of lenses from Canon to Sigma. One of my favorite lenses to use for portrait photography is the Sigma 85mm lense. One of my favorite lenses for outdoor photography is the Canon 70-200mm. I also use a the Canon 50 mm for portrait photography. In the future, I will be updating to the Sigma 35mm, 50mm, and 24 mm lenses.
GoPro Hero 5
I use my GoPro for action videos or for times it might be better to have a smaller camera. GoPros are great for harsher environments and wet environments as they are waterproof.
DJI Phantom 4
I use my drone for great areial shots or videos. The drone is not the smallest and has quite a large backpack, but it does a great job and easy to use once you finish the initial set up.
I use Adobe Lightroom 6, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Premiere Pro to edit my photos and videos. Adobe Photoshop 2018 is used for those extra touches to make a regular photo standout and come to life. For video editing I use Premiere Pro and then I store my photos in Adobe Portfolio. Lightroom is great for changing the tones of the photograph and assist me in obtaining that vintage or rustic look.
I use the iMac and Macbook Air to edit photographs and I love them both. I like the iMac when sitting at my desk with the large Retina display and the Macbook Air to edit on the go as it is small and easy to take with me. In my opinion Apple is some of the best products for a photographer and videographer.
